Visitors, pageviews and flags in one counter

Classic hit counters show one number. Live Flag Counter is a live visitor counter that shows the numbers that matter — total and unique visitors, and pageviews — plus a flag for each country your visitors come from, so you can see at a glance how far your website reaches.

  • Unique visitors are counted once, forever, by default. You can also count them once a day, or count every view.
  • Pageviews count every time a page shows the counter.
  • Bots, link previews and browser prefetches are never counted, so the numbers stay honest.

Pick a style

The badge is a compact counter that shows your total visitors next to a few flags — perfect for footers, READMEs and forum signatures. The grid and list layouts show the top countries with their numbers. Choose your colours, flag shape and size, and see the result live before you copy the code.

Why use Live Flag Counter as your visitor counter

  • Free, with no signup — create a counter in seconds and copy one line of code.
  • Always up to date — the counter refreshes on every view, so new visitors and flags show up straight away.
  • Privacy-friendly — no cookies on your visitors, and IP addresses are never stored.
  • Sharp everywhere — retina PNG and SVG images that look crisp on any screen.
  • Real statistics — a dashboard with a world map, trends, live traffic, browsers and devices, and CSV export.

How to add a visitor counter to your website

  1. Design your counter in the builder and click Create my counter.
  2. Copy the code: HTML for websites, Markdown for GitHub, BBCode for forums.
  3. Paste it into your site — for example in the footer, so it appears on every page.

Visitor counter HTML code

The HTML code is a single image inside a link — no JavaScript, so it works anywhere you can paste HTML. It looks like this; yours contains your own counter ID instead of YOUR-ID:

<a href="https://liveflagcounter.com/stats/YOUR-ID" target="_blank" rel="noopener">
  <img src="https://liveflagcounter.com/c/YOUR-ID.svg" alt="Live Flag Counter" height="24" style="max-width:100%;height:auto">
</a>

Questions

What is a visitor counter?

A visitor counter — also called a hit counter or website counter — is a small widget that shows how many people have visited a page. Live Flag Counter also shows which countries they come from, with a flag and a number for each.

What is the difference between visitors and pageviews?

Pageviews count every time the counter is shown. Visitors count people: by default each person is counted once, forever. You can also count them once a day, or count every view including refreshes.

Is this visitor counter really free?

Yes. It is free with no signup, no watermark and no traffic limits for normal websites. An optional free account lets you manage all your counters in one place.

Does it use cookies or slow down my site?

No. It is one small image: there is no JavaScript on your site and no cookie on your visitors. The image loads like any other picture.

Can visitors see my numbers?

The counter shows totals on your page, and clicking it opens a statistics page. You can make the statistics page private at any time.
